We are the Arctic Dog Adventure Company! We are an off-grid Siberian Husky kennel in the Interior of Alaska (near Fairbanks) offering multi day dog sled tours. Our ecotourism company focuses on teaching small groups of people to drive their own dog sleds on trips from 2 to 10 days.

WINTER HANDLER
+ DOG SLEDDING GUIDE

We are looking for two experienced and professional guides to help support our multi day dog sled tours. This is a salaried position most commonly known in the sled dog world as a "handler." We are looking for qualified individuals to help us care for and train our Siberian Husky sled dogs, as well as help execute day tours during the tour season (November-April).

DETAILS 

Who Can Apply: US Nationals/Green Card Holders ONLY

Full Time?: Yes. 

Starting Pay: Starts at $2000/month + housing. 

Incentive Pay: Additional guide pay, end of season bonus, increased salary for returning guides.

Benefits: SEP-IRA for qualified employees, housing.

Season: September 1 to April 30. 

Time off: At least two full days off per week.  These may not be consecutive or on weekends during the busy season, but we try our best to accommodate your off the clock adventures!

Housing: Dog-friendly dry cabin accommodations next door to the kennel. Heat, electricity & sauna included.

Hiring Timeline: Applications close June 30. Interviews will be scheduled Early-Mid July, Job offer by end of July. We are accepting applications for next season.

SUMMER HANDLER

+ HIKING GUIDE

We offer a seasonal position most commonly known in the sled dog world as a "handler." We are looking for an individual or pair to help us care for the dogs and our off-grid homestead during the “off-season” (May-September), as well as guide kennel tours and summer husky hikes. This position is part-time and does not require a commitment for the full summer season (though those applications will be prioritized).

If you do not have any experience with sled dogs, but wish to learn more, this position is perfect for you. 

 

This position has the potential to lead to a promotion to full-time employee/guide for the winter season.

DETAILS

Who Can Apply: US Nationals/Green Card Holders ONLY

Full Time?: No. 

Starting Pay: $1500/month + housing. $40/hike to start.

Incentive Pay: Quarterly raises, tips, end of season bonus, tips, increased salary for returning guides, pathway to promotion to Winter Handler + Guide..

Season: May 1 to August 31. 3 month stay minimum. Start and end date flexible, but full season applications will be prioritized. 

Time off: At least two full days off per week. 

Housing: Pet-friendly dry cabin accommodations next door to the kennel. Heat, electricity & sauna included.

Hiring Timeline: Interviews Early-Mid March, Job offer by end of March. We are accepting applications for next season.

SUMMER WORKSTAY/
UNPAID INTERNSHIP

Want to visit Alaska, learn about off grid life and huskies? We offer a volunteer/travel opportunity most commonly known in the sled dog world as a "handler." In exchange for help caring for the sled dogs and our off grid homestead, we provide food & accommodations. 3 week stay minimum. 

 

If you do not have any experience with sled dogs or off grid living, but wish to learn more, this position is perfect for you.

COMPENSATION
Starting Pay: None. 

Benefits: Full room and board. Heat, electricity, food & drink (not alcohol) included. Private cabin.
Season: May-September, 3 week stay minimum. 

Who Can Apply: Anyone, including foreign nationals.

Full Time?: No. 

Starting Pay:  None. This is a volunteer position. 

Season: May 1 to September 30. 3 week stay minimum.

Time off: At least two full days off per week. 

Housing: Dog-friendly dry cabin accommodations next door to the kennel. Food, drink (except alcohol), heat, electricity & sauna included.
